The Butterflies are Free!

Our butterflies have emerged and this morning we set them free.
All five arrived alive, but one little guy had a malformed wing.
An edge seemed to fold over.

He took his time hopping around, but then all of a sudden flew up and over the fence! I assume he will make it to a flower somewhere and enjoy the sun.

My son was disappointed that he could not get one to sit on his finger. I told him we would do this again sometime in the future, so maybe next time.

I keep reading about these butterflies that people "grow." I do believe I will have to invest in some butterflies of my own. I know my girls would greatly enjoy the experience.

What a really terrific project! I can see why he was a little disappointed about them sitting on his finger though, they are beautiful.

We have a beautiful butterfly bush in our backyard (I didn't know that was what it was called until last week) and it also attracts hummingbirds.

Every year I say we are going to try this and we haven't yet! Sorry to see about the loss of your pet.

love the butterfly pictures! It's great that you share nature with your child / children. They learn so much this way too.
