Lessons, CNN and The Electoral Map

The election has had a surprising effect on my son.
Like a lot of homes, CNN has been on the television at my house. With all the attention paid to the electoral maps, he now thinks it's pretty important to know which state is which.

So the map of the US is now up in our school corner and everyday we spend some time on identifying the states. He knows he lives in Florida, and because of listening to the news, he knows where Texas, Alaska, Ohio and Indiana is on the map.

I'm sure it won't be long before he knows the rest as well. Of course, he is also quick to tell you who the new president is. It seems that not all television viewing is bad for children, and you never know what will open a discussion for new lessons.

Aw ! This post is so sweet ! It made my evening ! :)

To be frank, I still have a terrible time locating many American states on a blank map. And I also can't connect many two-letter state abbreviations.

Jaffer: Thanks so much, your not alone there. I never remember abbreviations.
