My son's potatoes sprouted!
We planted some peelings as an experiment a few weeks ago
and they sprouted.
Today we transplanted them into a tub with loose soil. Now whether we get potatoes or not, remains to be seen. I hope they at least flower so he can see that.
I found some easy instructions for growing them in a garbage can. Also they can be grown in a wire cage. If I remember correctly, it was red potatoes that I planted.
I love to roast these alongside a chicken with carrots and onions.
Guess we better plant some carrots and onions!

I am seriously going to try and grow potatoes in a garbage. Red ones. I am so excited about this. I had no idea. Thanks for pointing me over there!
Vixen: I know, it's a great idea if you don't have a garden. Let me know how yours do!
A homeschooling friend of mine grew potatoes in a trash can once... and then someone came along right before she was going to harvest them and stole the trash can - potatoes, soil and all! Thankfully, she's the relaxed type and didn't get upset about it thought; she thought it was rather funny.
Obimom: She must be a good sport. I think after growing them for that long, I'd be more than a little annoyed!
