Tonight I Said Goodbye

Sir Lancelot 10/92 - 11/08

I'm sad to say we have lost another member of our family tonight. Sir Lancelot has passed away. He was 16yrs old and had been a diabetic since 4 months old. In his later years he developed hyperthyroidism and other disorders related to his diabetes.

That fact that he lived this long is a tribute to his tenacity and loyalty to me. I raised him from 2 days old when he was found abandoned in a garage. He was full of spitfire from the beginning and throughout his life continued to challenge and defy the rules of veterinary medicine.
In all my years as a vet tech, I have never heard of another juvenile diabetic cat surviving past his first year.

So my dear Lancelot, I send you on ahead now to run and play with the others you have known and please know that I will never stop being grateful for the lessons you taught me and the vets who cared for you over the years. Fly away home now, in peace.

I am so sorry for your loss. He was a brave fighter.

Our Livvie is very old now and we are aware that we won't have her too much longer. We treasure every day.

WOW, that is a long-lived cat. I know that is a great testament to his good care all these years. BTW we have a very old cat, too. She hobbles up the stairs now, but is in relatively good health.
She is probably about 8 months younger than your cat.

Oh, I'm so sorry. It's amazing he soldiered on, despite his illness. I agree with Clippergirl. He was lucky you were the one who found him.

Oh my dear... I am just heartbroken for you for your terrible loss. As someone whose animals are the center of her life, I know all too well how devastating this loss must be for you. Please know that I am sending my thoughts, love, healing prayers, and that you may find peace, knowing that his spirit is near you now and will always be. There really are no words for such a loss, but I am praying for your gentle heart, and sending a warm hug.

Love,

Maitri
