While We Wait

Photo Credit:US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Last evening before sunset while outside with the dogs, my son looked up and saw the moon. He called out “ Hello moon, hello”. He then turned to me and asked, "Where are the stars mom"?
I told him that the sun had not yet gone down and we could not see the stars. He looked up again and said, "Go to bed sun, your tired now, go to bed".

It is in the dusk of a long summer day, when the moon is already visible in the late afternoon but the sun has not yet dipped below the horizon, that I am reminded it takes time for transitions in the universe and in our lives to occur.
Time to let the past burn itself out, so that we can see the bright lights ahead and follow their path. While we wait, the moon hangs there just off in the distance. A quiet shadow waiting with us.

As my son and I walked back toward the house, I’m sure I saw the moon smile.

Thank you for always waiting with me dad, Happy Father's Day.

What a beautiful tribute. It's moments like the one you speak of which make me wonder, "Does the past lay the teachings for our future, or is the future (our children) the key to awakening an understanding of the past?" Thanks for stopping in my blog and a special thanks for sharing yours.
